Our need…
Reporting to the Director, Population and Public Health Evidence and Evaluation and working with a collaborative team, this position is responsible for managing the Yukon First Nation Cancer Care Initiative that is funded through the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC). With the Directors, First Nations Governments, the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH), and other Health & Social Services areas, the Project Manager will collaborate with partners both inside and outside of the Territory, to advance the Yukon First Nations Cancer Care project.
The Project Manager Will Work With Stakeholders To

• Support the development and implementation of a sustainable Yukon First Nation cancer strategy
• Co-develop strategies to address priority areas identified by oversight committee
• Act as lead responsible for fostering respectful spaces and opening conversations about Yukon First Nation cancer experiences, screening obstacles and tobacco cessation with Yukon First Nations and the CMOH

The Project Manager is also responsible for managing all aspects of the project life cycle including:

• Coordinating committees and committee work
• Project planning and development
• Developing and presenting audience appropriate reports on project progress
• Defining the roles and responsibilities of the project team
• Providing senior management with options and recommendations for improving systems support and transformative change.
• Project reporting back to CPAC
• Developing detailed work plans

• Experience building and maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships/partnerships between Yukon First Nation communities and Yukon Government
• Demonstrated experience with managing complex projects involving multiple, diverse stakeholders and organizations
• Demonstrated experience in Indigenous Health, Social Services, Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Health Policy or other related discipline.
• Experience working with qualitative and quantitative research practices and data for the purpose of presentations to communities, health professionals, and decision-makers is an asset

Desired Knowledge, Skills And Suitability
Candidates should have and may be assessed on:

• Strong change management, facilitation, negotiation and problem solving skills.
• Knowledge of cultural safety and humility, and of the struggles an individual may face during their cancer journey.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in large, complex settings.
• The ability to clearly communicate both oral and written project status reports and project presentations.
• Demonstrated ability to proactively manage changes in project scope, identify risks, and develop contingency plans where appropriate.
• Ability to define project goals and work plans with timelines and deliverables to ensure the early integration of projects.
• Knowledge of Yukon First Nations communities, and their governance models.
• Knowledge of OCAP® principles.
• Ability to foster collaborative and effective working relationships.

Conditions of Employment:

• RCMP Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector
• Valid Class 5 Drivers license

Job Requirements

• Ability to travel periodically both within, and outside of, the Territory.
