About the role:


The Project Manager position will be responsible for managing both greenfield and brownfield projects of different scopes and sizes related to the operation and maintenance of the North American Closed Sites (NACS). The successful candidate will be responsible for project planning, scheduling, cost estimating, monitoring, forecasting, while reporting and providing quality control reviews to NACS Management. The position will be responsible for developing, reporting and presenting project metrics according to the Capital Management Framework (CMF) within the Glencore Corporate Project Management Framework. The position will monitor and interpret those metrics for the various sites, interacting with team members to provide support and recommendations towards meeting overall project objectives. Additional tasks would be to develop, maintain, manage and oversee project controls for these projects.


The successful candidate will be required to become familiar with the Glencore Fatal Hazard Protocols and Safework principles in order to ensure that these are implemented and adhered to ensure the health and safety of all stakeholders involved in the projects.


In this role, you will:


  • Develop and implement project controls for the project. Inform and alert management team to deviations, while bringing recommendations for change as the case may be.
  • Develop project scopes, plans and budgets according to the Glencore Capital Management Framework (CMF).
  • Develop presentations and documentation as per the templates required by the CMF and present such to the Glencore NACS.
  • Monitor project deliverables such as schedules, constructability reviews, risk assessments earthworks construction and operability as the case may be. Prepare monthly reports.
  • Develop strong communication plans, establish and report on key project metrics and key control documents to engage and motivate team members
  • Monitor controls data related to risk register.
  • Assist NACS Management with administration related to project approval protocols.
  • Monitor and track projects for progress, accuracy and confirmation of progress payments and invoice payments submitted. Be involved in any negotiations of extras and changes, be an approver of changes and dispute resolutions.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets, including monitoring and forecasting on prescribed frequencies, along with preparing the monthly reports containing this information.
  • Review and ratify scope of work documentation and work with team members and consultants as required. Developing and maintaining trending registers, project change registers and/or any other developed monitoring and control tools. Utilize S-Curve, CPI (cost performance index) and Earned Value tools.
  • Work within Glencore Project Management Guidelines and within the NACS rules and regulations.


Qualifications:


  • An undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with mine tailings and water treatment would be a strong asset
  • Proficiency in Project Management Systems (i.e.MS Project)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in managing earthworks and other contractors
  • Minimum 5 years relevant industry experience, specifically past experience in Project Management and project finances / economics.
  • A strong understanding of project management, civil, geotechnical and environmental disciplines.
  • PMI designation.
  • Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience in large scale projects
  • Knowledge of ERP systems
