Job Description
The University of Manchester is leading the Future Biomanufacturing Research Hub (Future BRH, https://futurebrh.com/) with reseach Spokes at Imperial, UCL, Nottingham, IBioIC, CPI, and the UK Catalysis Hub. At the Future BRH we are developing industrial biotechnology towards efficient and sustainable bio-based manufacturing for key UK sectors: Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, Engineering Materials and Fuels. By connecting interdisciplinary discovery science together with industry we are devloping innovative biomanufacturing solutions to help support the growing bio-economy.


The FutureBRH is now seeking a Programme Manager focussed on managing its external engagement to help deliver a cohesive translation strategy for the FutureBRH, and support the technology exploitation (patents/licensing) in partnership with the University of Manchester Innovation Factory (UMIF) / UoM Business Engagement and Knowledge Exchange (BEKE) team, and the Research Development and Innovation (RDI) team at the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE). The post-holder will network nationally and internationally with relevant industrial partners (especially in the chemicals and materials sectors) to develop new associations and link with technology transfer networks and scale up facilities (e.g., SynBio Innovation Centre (SynbiCITE), IBioIC and CPI). With 16 current industrial partners, this role is essential in providing the interface with the FutureBRH academics and researchers, overseeing the delivery of industry interfaced research projects and developing new collaborations with industry. The post holder will play a crucial role in driving the strategic development, management and delivery of engagement activities linking with local and national infrastructure and expertise, building interdisciplinary relationships both across industry and academia.and network nationally and internationally with relevant industrial partners (especially in the chemicals and materials sectors).


Based in the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB) at the University of Manchester (UoM), the FutureBRH builds on the MIB’s distinguished track record in translating basic scientific discovery into industrial applications, through licensing, spin-off formation and other related activities that drive the exploitation of MIB’s science and technology programmes.
