Production Worker/General Labourer (Ft)

Norstar Windows and Doors having increased its workforce by over 20% in the last six months and is looking to hire an additional 6 production workers to support more growth. We offer stable year round work. Lifting of up to 50 lbs is required. We also have other general work available.

The Production Worker/General Labourer will perform tasks involving physical labour in our manufacturing plant and will be required to operate a variety of hand and power tools. Responsibilities will include the manufacture and assembly of windows, doors and railing using bolts, screws, clips, caulking guns, and assorted fasteners. The General Labourer will be responsible for the efficient production of products according to established procedures, following all safety protocols and workplace policies.

Job Details

• Some Saturday work available
• Hourly Wage: $19-21 depending on experience.
• Schedule: Peak Hours are 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Fridays AND Non-Peak Hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Fridays.
• Benefits: Company-paid group medical, dental, and insurance after probation.
• Location: 400 McNeilly Road, Stoney Creek, ON.

WE ARE NOT CURRENTLY ON A BUS ROUTE - NOTE: the #55 bus will be servicing our area effective SEPT. 3, 2023.

Job Duties

• Follow current safety standards and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Clean and perform preparation of the work area.
• Record and report any defects.
• Position and install parts, subassemblies, and accessories using hand and power tools and other aids like overhead hoists.
• Load, and unload materials.
• Mark, record/scan, and track productivity numbers.
• Bolt, screw, clip, caulk, or otherwise fasten parts and components together using hand and power tools and equipment.

Requirements

• Ability to bend, crouch and lift items as required, up to 50lbs.
• Attention to detail.
• Requires good manual dexterity. (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team completing assigned activities according to the production schedule.
• Respect diversity - treat others with respect.
• Safety footwear.
• Willing to work overtime as required, either early or late, some weekends.
• Able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Experience or ability to work with a variety of hand and power tools.
• Commitment to product quality and safety.
• Ability to read and write.

Working Conditions

• This position may be exposed to elements such as intermittent noise, dust, heat, and cold.
• Regularly works near moving mechanical equipment.
• Use of Personal Protection Equipment (e.g. seatbelt, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, etc.)
• Ability to stand for extended periods and complete repetitive tasks.
