Purpose of the Job
The Product Management Intern is responsible for assisting with various duties to maximize profitability of the bank via the prioritization and execution of strategic initiatives. Over this 16 week internship, the role will get exposure to the strategy for our Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) product and Mortgage Renewals team. The candidate must be able to impeccably execute their tasks in a timely and prudent manner within established guidelines.
Work Term: September 4, 2023 to December 29, 2023.
The Work
  • Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest
  • Help build and review internal models, tools, processes, policies, presentations, and other related materials; challenge team and improve the underlying processes of functional area
  • Help coordinate product delivery
  • Work with engineers and QA to deliver features and launch experiments
  • Support larger transformation projects by gathering and analyzing data to identify and solve complex problems, raise issues where appropriate and exercise discretion in managing information and all matters of confidentiality
  • Work directly with bank stakeholders and leadership to identify, prioritize and execute opportunities to improve product features and processes
  • Conduct competitor analysis
  • Make hypotheses, validate and iterate based on product experiment results
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand product metrics, experiment data, and do self-serving data analysis to get insights
  • Conduct user research & collect user feedback with an emphasis on customer experience
  • Prioritize and manage own workload to meet service level agreement requirements for service and productivity

  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  • Skilled at data analysis and comfortable with design and technical terms;
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in progress, in finance, business administration, commerce, economics, data analysis, marketing, engineering, product management or any other relevant field
  • Self-starter with an inquisitive mindset
  • Proven ability to generate and deliver reports that provide useful insights into product details;
  • Highly organized, data-oriented, user-obsessed, and detail-oriented with a passion for ensuring product optimized efficiently and effectively;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • A strong desire to learn about the Canadian housing market and all elements impacting the mortgage sector
  • Ability and desire to work collaboratively to ensure successful project execution;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to respond in a clear, concise, and professional manner

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from Equitable Bank’s additional office space located at 351 King Street East, Toronto, ON.
