Job Description
Photon Control Inc. is part of the MKS Instruments Photonics Solutions Division, providing a wide range of highly specialized opto-mechanical solutions to enhance our customer’s capabilities and productivity in the semiconductor, advanced electronics and specialty industrial markets. At Photon Control we design and manufacture high performance optical sensors and systems to measure temperature and position. These products improve performance and enable innovation for our customers and are used in the semiconductor and other high technology industries. Our clients provide solutions to some of the biggest semiconductor manufacturers whose products can be found in everyday electronic devices, cellphones, smart watches, TVs, and computers.


We are looking for an exceptional Process Technician who will be responsible for developing, optimizing and maintaining critical development and manufacturing processes and procedures. This position will work in close collaboration with the Advanced Development and Engineering teams, and other departments to support the development of critical to quality products that enable market leading performance in our fiber optic temperature sensors.


What you will do is:


  • Ensure the lab and test areas are clean and organized, and that good laboratory practices and safety procedures are followed.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all activities including test results, quality reports and raw data.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and conduct testing and troubleshooting on specialized laboratory equipment, including identifying and resolving technical issues.
  • Support the Advanced Development and Engineering teams in the planning and execution of development test plans.
  • Continuously evaluate processes and procedures and suggest improvement to increase efficiency and quality.
  • Maintain and calibrate test and process equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.


What will you bring to the team, along with your passion for engineering are:


  • Diploma or certificate in Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field.
  • Knowledge of development and/or laboratory equipment and tools, experience in maintenance and calibration.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong technical skills, with hands-on experience in wet lab skills and troubleshooting.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience of working in a development or laboratory environment.
  • Experience with liquid and gas handling equipment desirable.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems is an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Background in analytical testing highly desirable.
