Position Overview:

As a Process Engineer specializing in Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) sizing, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper design, selection, and sizing of PSVs in various industrial processes. Your primary objective will be to assess and mitigate potential risks related to overpressure situations in process systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

PSV Sizing and Selection:

• Evaluate process design data, equipment specifications, and operating conditions to determine the appropriate PSV sizing requirements.
• Perform calculations using recognized methods and software tools to determine the required relieving capacity of PSVs.
• Select suitable PSVs based on their characteristics, performance, and compatibility with the process conditions.

Process Safety:

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and process safety solutions.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHA) and participate in process safety reviews to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Analyze process systems to identify potential overpressure scenarios and assess their consequences.

Engineering Design Support:

• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and documents related to PSVs to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and standards.
• Work closely with design and project teams to integrate PSV requirements into the overall process system design.
• Provide technical support and guidance during the selection, installation, and commissioning of PSVs.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and documentation related to PSV sizing and selection.
• Maintain accurate records of PSV specifications, performance data, and validation testing results.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of engineering standards, procedures, and guidelines for PSV sizing activities.

Continuous Improvement:

• Stay updated with the latest industry standards, codes, and regulations related to PSV sizing and process safety.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization, reliability improvement, and cost reduction related to PSV sizing activities.
• Participate in technical training programs, workshops, and conferences to enhance professional knowledge and skills.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in using industry-standard software tools for PSV sizing calculations (e.g., API 520/521, Farris, etc.).
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of pressure relief devices, including PSVs, rupture discs, and relief valve systems.
• Experience with process safety management (PSM) systems, hazard identification techniques, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical concepts and recommendations.
• Strong understanding of process engineering principles, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, NFPA) and their application to PSV sizing.
