Business Development Department
- Market and communicate the Nation’s business activities to industry and customers as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Support various stages of a transaction’s life cycle, collaborating with internal functional partners and business group leads as well as interfacing with counterparties and external advisors.
- Evaluate new business and investment opportunities and make recommendations to Executive team.
- Support the executive team in the negotiation of new agreements with industry.
- Participate and support community events in Fort McKay.
- Facilitate the revenue growth of the Nation’s business portfolio companies through seeking out and obtaining new contracts.
- Identify new companies which can be formed by the Nation to capture market opportunities.
- Develop and nurture relationships with Supply Chain Managers, Senior Executives, Professional advisors and other stakeholders within the industry.
- Monitor and ensure all required tasks for corporate compliance are being met within the Nation’s business portfolio.
- Identify new revenue generating investment opportunities for the FMFN.
- Support all department activities and tasks and work with other departments in the Nation.
- Support business development team with preparing financial models, budget projections, analyzing financial statements and presenting key financial indicators.
- Monitor existing agreements to ensure both parties are meeting their commitments.
- Execute all of the Nation’s required tasks per multiple agreements under strict timelines.
- Support the executive team in the existing underperforming businesses or investments to increase profitability.
- Provide financial analysis of the Nation’s portfolio companies as well as contracts, customers, and markets.
- Provide revenue projections for the FMFN’s existing business by evaluating market trends and customer feedback and update them as required.
- Experience working with in an Indigenous community or organization, preferred
- Experience with M&A, financing, banking and investing
- A chartered professional accounting (CPA) designation, a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designation or a chartered financial analyst (CFA) designation is required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in M&A, private equity or investments
- Distinguished academic performance with BA or MBA in Finance, Business or Accounting
- Strong financial analysis, modeling and understanding of accounting
- A valid Class 5 drivers’ license as travel will be necessary
- Knowledge of First Nations culture and traditions an asset
