Who You Are


As a senior member of the power plant operation and maintenance team, the Plant Engineer will bring technical engineering expertise and knowledge of power plant operations and maintenance systems to oversee the implementation of a new change management process, a refined asset tracking process, and ultimately assist the operations and maintenance team in achieving industry-leading plant availability targets. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager while working collaboratively with the Operation and Maintenance Supervisor and the Maintenance Planner on a daily basis. The Plant Engineer will also oversee any necessary re-engineering of plant systems (Continuous Improvement) and oversee quality control/assurance processes for all work conducted on operating assets.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop metrics for maintenance performance of critical systems/assets.
  • Assist in planning No- Destructive Examination plan for BSCA, regulatory, and operational needs.
  • Improve and implement a new drawing and asset record management process.
  • Identify, using subject matter experts as required, opportunities to improve plant assets and systems.
  • Co-ordinate a collaborative design review process and lead the re-engineering of plant systems as required.
  • Develop a long-term mechanical and electrical maintenance plan (3-5yr).
  • Standardize a troubleshooting approach using root cause analysis and train plant personnel.
  • Tracking, reporting, and optimizing plant capacity and availability.
  • Develop and implement formal management of the change process and train plant personnel.


Secondary Responsibilities:


  • Work collaboratively with Maintenance Planner to oversee completion of Bill of Material for all major plant assets.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations to optimize Operations and Maintenance procedures.
  • Provide leadership and direction in optimization of stores and identifying outstanding critical spares.
  • Assist Plant Manager in the compilation and preparation of annual budget.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
  • Assist Operations and Maintenance team in identifying and managing a prioritized list of planned major maintenance and capital projects, including annual shutdown scope of work, budget, schedule.
  • Provide guidance to Maintenance Planner to assist with prioritizing forced outage work.


Qualifications


  • Valid Class 5 Drivers license.
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering discipline, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or related role.
