The Role

As a member of the technical services team, reporting to Sr Engineer, mechanical, you will provide mechanical engineering and technical solutions for mining, milling, process control problems and provide design support for smaller capital and expense projects.


In this role, you will:

  • Perform various mechanical engineering and design tasks, performing major equipment sizing, process piping, HVAC system analysis and sizing, development of technical specifications, data sheets, and updating and revising technical drawings, datasheets, and reports.
  • Be responsible for scope development, planning, and cost estimating to support business cases over the asset life cycle.
  • Ensuring that the design work is done in accordance with Cameco’s processes, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in working with mechanical technologists in developing intelligent 3D process plant/ equipment designs, intelligent P&IDs/ schematics, and working with 3D laser scan point cloud data
  • You will also be responsible for developing and integrating mechanical design standards for Cameco and mentoring other mechanical engineers and technologists.
  • Occasional travel to Cameco production facilities shall be required.


Required:

  • Minimum 4-8 years of relevant industry experience. Equivalent combination of education and work experience will also be considered.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering


Recommended:

  • Strong communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of pressure vessels, atmospheric tanks, ASME B31.1 code, ASME B31.3 code, Boiler and Pressure Vessel code (BPVC), Welding standards, and CSA B51 Boiler, Pressure Vessel, and Pressure Piping Code
  • Experience in machine elements stress analysis, machine design (GD&T), and process plant automation


Conditions of Employment:

  • Eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) and Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
