Position Scope


As the Pilot Engineer/Operator you are responsible for field operation of an automated pilot test filter system running in parallel with a full-scale demonstration unit. Theses tests under different operating conditions are critical to improving/optimizing performance and design of full-scale commercial installations. You are required to collect accurate and relevant data including sampling and laboratory analyses as required. This data will be analysed and reported for use in the planning of a greener future.


This position is an 8-month position starting September 2023.


This position is on-site and based in Squamish, BC.


Responsibilities


Technical


  • Participate in reporting and presenting to senior management on testing progress plus new insights and/or concepts for testing
  • Perform basic design calculations for different test configurations and participate in Management of Change procedures and safety reviews.
  • Participate in test planning/scheduling/execution, writing operating procedures
  • Sample and analyze the pilot test filter system
  • Operate and maintain pilot test filter equipment in collaboration with plant operating and maintenance personnel
  • Organize and report on data collected from the pilot test filter system


Safety


  • Maintain the pilot unit in a safe condition in line with all applicable regulations.
  • Identify, report and resolve unsafe conditions, processes or actions within the workplace.
  • Demonstrate a positive approach to safety.
  • Ensure that all safety related incidents, accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in line with company policy.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.


Education And Experience


Education:


  • Currently enrolled in Chemical Engineering at a Canadian post-secondary institution (2nd or 3rd year).


Experience:


  • Safe handling of chemical products is required.
  • Thrive on doing things that have not been done before (explorer mindset).
  • Motivated curiosity and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and noisy work environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
