Our client is a reputable small law firm located in Surrey, dedicated to providing high-quality legal services to our clients in the area of family law. Our firm is committed to achieving positive outcomes for our clients through a combination of legal expertise, compassion, and personalized attention. We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Senior LAA / Paralegal to join our dynamic team.
As a Senior LAA / Paralegal at our firm, you will play a crucial role in supporting our family law practice. Your responsibilities will include assisting lawyers with various aspects of case management, client communication, drafting legal documents, and maintaining organized and accurate case files. With your expertise and experience in family law, you will contribute to the efficient functioning of the firm and help provide top-notch legal services to our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Stay up-to-date with changes in family law legislation and procedural rules.
- Conduct legal research to support case preparation and strategy.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all relevant documents are accurately filed and easily accessible.
- Attend court hearings and trials to provide assistance and support to lawyers.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior legal support staff as needed.
- Assist in client communications, scheduling appointments, and responding to inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
- Liaise with court registries, opposing counsel, and other legal professionals as required.
- Collaborate with lawyers and other team members in managing family law cases, including divorce, child custody, spousal support, and property division matters.
- Prepare, review, and draft legal documents, including pleadings, agreements, and correspondence.
Requirements:
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in family law procedures, forms, and documentation.
- Proficiency in legal research and the use of legal databases.
- Paralegal certification or completion of a recognized Legal Administrative Assistant program is a must.
- Familiarity with legal technology and case management software.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant (LAA) or Paralegal, with a strong emphasis on family law matters.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
