Job Summary


The Right-of-Way unit is responsible for managing the Municipal Consent Process for works being undertaken within the road right-of-way, including the utility circulation process, managing agreements with various utilities and agencies with infrastructure within the Right of Way, and overseeing the management of the Information Centre, the Central Vault and the maintenance of the Central Registry.


You are responsible for the review and approval of technical designs for roads, water mains, sewer mains, gas mains, hydro and telecommunication services within the Public Right of Way. You provide accurate and up-to-date technical information and advice to utility companies as part of the Utility Circulation Process of the Public Utilities Coordinating Committee. In addition, you review planning circulations for proposed developments and site plan control applications, and make servicing recommendations to the appropriate agency. You also resolve conflicts between utilities competing for limited space within the Right of Way.


Education And Experience


Completion of 3 year community college diploma as a Civil Engineering Technologist with CET status


Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible and practical experience related to Municipal Engineering, including roadway networks, water distribution systems, infrastructure planning, design, project management and construction in a municipal setting


CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES


Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with OACETT, or able to obtain certification within the timeframe determined by the employer
