1A Surgery offers you the opportunity to provide a safe environment and quality patient care to a varied surgical population; from general surgery, orthopedics, urology, vascular surgery and the specialties of plastic, maxilla-facial surgery, and most recently our specialty of thoracic surgery. With our growing acuity with our surgical population we have added a 6 bed surgical observation unit requiring increased observation post surgery.


1A Surgery has a strong interdisciplinary team to offer our patients and their families quality care. Come and join this great team!


Key Qualifications:


  • Member in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy (Master's degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.)
  • Membership in O.S.O.T. and C.A.O.T. preferred
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and is able to be self-directed in a fast-paced, flexible working environment
  • Previous experience and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with Occupational Therapist/Physical Therapist Assistants
  • Demonstrates clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Relevant experience in managing acute patients in a variety of programs
  • Demonstrates the ability to work on a dynamic, interdisciplinary team, including families and community partners


Position Summary:


  • Participates in Professional Practice meetings as required
  • Participates in program planning, continuous quality improvement and evaluation, thereby contributing to the overall vision/mandate of Occupational Therapy Services at Trillium Health Partners
  • Supervises support personnel, students and volunteers as appropriate
  • Provides Occupational Therapy services in keeping with College guidelines and Essential Competencies for clients with deficits in areas of occupational performance
  • As a dependable support in providing Occupational Therapy services is able to assume new caseloads comfortably and competently
