MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that prepares graduates to lead and succeed in nursing practice, and beyond. The Faculty of Nursing includes the Departments of: Nursing Foundations; Human Health and Science; Nursing Practice; Health Systems and Sustainability; and Professional Nursing and Allied Health. Courses delivered within these five (5) departments are affiliated with the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing, the Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing, and other continuing education credentials and learning experiences. The Faculty of Nursing invites applications for Nurse Educator appointments specific to those with licensure as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), commencing August 2023, subject to final budgetary approval. A Nurse Educator appointment is a full-time continuing position consisting of full-time work for a 10.5-month recurring term (usually approximately August to May, depending on the courses assigned), with salary distributed over 12 months. Nurse Educator appointments include a benefits package.

You will be primarily responsible for lab and clinical instruction in the psychiatric nursing programs (Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing Diploma) in your area of clinical experience and expertise. Travel may be required to Ponoka.

You will hold a minimum of a baccalaureate degree in psychiatric nursing and have a minimum of three (3) years of registered nursing psychiatric nursing experience. A graduate degree in nursing or a related field is preferred. All areas of clinical expertise, including mental health, obstetrics, community/public health and acute medical/surgical will be considered. Candidates should possess strong practice knowledge and skills; a commitment to the profession of nursing; potential for excellence in teaching undergraduate nursing students; and an interest in ongoing professional development. Active unencumbered licensure with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA) is required, along with the ability to meet the requisite skills and abilities of the applicable nursing discipline.
