Job Description

Our Waterloo or GTA offices have an opportunity for a Monitoring Technician position in our growing Canadian Operations.


Responsibilities:


  • Working with and providing support to other members of the group in assisting with other field, laboratory, and office activities as required
  • Travel requirements (generally within Southern Ontario) however works may include locations in Northern and Eastern Ontario. Estimated 95% of time outside the office in the field.
  • Collection of groundwater and surface water samples for long-term landfill and contaminated site environmental monitoring programs
  • May also be involved in oversight of drilling investigations involving geotechnical and environmental components including coordination and review of utility locates and utility drawings.
  • May also be involved with the preparation of data tables, stratigraphic logs, scopes of work, and health and safety plans.
  • Completing clear, neat, and accurate field notes
  • Adherence to GHD and client’s safety requirement including appropriate PPE.
  • Liaise with client representatives and/or site contacts or private residents, as required.


Skills and Qualifications:


  • Ability to meet challenging deadlines; and
  • 5-to-10-year experience in Environmental monitoring, sampling programs for consulting. Field position to do sampling program. Water or monitoring. (Environmental technologist, monitoring technician, field technician).
  • Working knowledge of hydrogeology field testing and sampling techniques
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Adaptable and analytical
  • Competence in operation of 4-wheel off road vehicles and use of a trailer to transport off road vehicles to site locations.
  • Team player, cooperate with other staff.
  • Ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
  • College Diploma in an Earth Science, Environmental, or Civil Engineering Technology/Technician program or other relevant discipline
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with clear well written notes
  • Valid First Aid/AED Training certification considered an asset.
  • Must own a reliable vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license.
