Mechanical Designer Jobs

Job Summary:

Prime Engineering is currently looking for a Mechanical Designer with a background in power systems and distribution. The role involves creating CAD drawings using Solidworks for Prime Engineering projects. The position requires practical problem-solving skills and creativity to develop cost-effective and easily assembled product designs that meet customer needs. The Mechanical Designer will play a crucial role in advocating for mechanical design aspects and ensuring project success.

Job Responsibilities:

•Prepare drawings including, general arrangements, sub assembly drawings, part drawings and

occasionally electrical drawings.

•Prepare electrical equipment and drawing lists and specifications as required.

•Follow project or departmental standards related to the work and take direction and

instructions from project engineers and managers associated with the design.

•Propose creative and innovative ways of improving drafting and design costs and efficiency.

•Identify and implement process improvements.

•Assist in creating and submitting progress and technical reports.

•Adhere to, implement, and maintain drafting standards and techniques.

•Take part in meetings both internally and externally with clients.

•Provide expertise and leadership on mechanical aspects of projects.

•Write specifications for structural and mechanical equipment.

•Prepare project documentation including technical reports, construction packages, drawings,

and Bills of Materials

•Keep all project files/materials/equipment stored neatly and clearly identified in accordance.

•Complete Engineering calculations and analysis for equipment designs including busbar.

Qualifications:

•Mechanical Engineering diploma required, Mechanical Engineering degree a desired asset.

•Experience with electric system drafting an asset.

•Proficiency in Solidworks, Certified Solidworks Associate (CSWA) or higher level is a desired asset.

•Proficient in all MS Office programs

•Experience in electrical equipment design, specifically Medium and High voltage an asset

•Field experience an asset.

•Understanding of CEC, CSA, IEEE, and UL standards

•Knowledge of power distribution, switchgear, generation, and substations

•Mechanical aptitude is an asset.

•Knowledge of heat transfer mechanics and basic beam strength calculations asset.

•Ability to query electrical designs and practices.

•Experience with custom panel building concepts.

Compensation Model: Base + Annual Bonus
