Job Description

Create and modify the standard designs of equipment, systems, or installations, including standard specifications for manufacturing, fabrication or construction for assignments classified as low to medium complexity by applying standard design concepts.


Your Responsibilities


  • Provide engineering consultancy to customers and methods to delivery specification requirements.
  • Address technical queries and respond to project delivery issues, ensuring timely resolution and the customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with the Supply Chain function and the Project Manager(s) to meet the contractual requirements.
  • Participate in project reviews meetings and present design solutions, identify risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Planning and control
  • Supply Chain management
  • Identifies and implements variation requests to support contract claims based on the approval from Project Manager.
  • Provide engineering support to production, collect, and analyse production and control quality feedback, perform incremental product improvements to increase production efficiency.
  • Supports technical risk assessments and implements resulting actions for one's projects.
  • Processes and tools
  • Influence and share best practice in engineering disciplines, looking to enhance department performance ability to deliver quality client solutions
  • Provide technical product support to internal and external personnel as required.
  • Contributes to design reviews and design verification, modifies design, as necessary.
  • Actively contributes and shares experiences in workshops pertaining to engineering design, tools, and processes.
  • Updates the engineering deliverables as-built.
  • Technical leadership and knowledge sharing
  • Coordinates with Commissioning / Service functions to ensure the designs are appropriately installed and commissioned (if applicable as part of the contract).
  • Follows work plans and cost estimates provided by the Project Manager and ensures quality deliverables on time and at targeted cost.
  • Reports any contract / safety / quality / program / cost issues to Project Manager(s) for resolution.
  • Contract management
  • Ensures Bill of Material (BOM) for the project meets contractual obligations; and project gross margin requirements by not generating Project Left-Over Material (PLOM).
  • Commissioning and Service
  • Shares best practices Lessons-Learned documentation across different projects.
  • Customer
  • Perform design and drafting work to support the successful projects delivery.
  • Contributes to preparation of specific aspects of design assignments to meet the contractual obligations, while adhering to relevant standards, safety, and quality.
  • Prepare design, drawings, and other engineering documents.
  • Uses standard processes and tools, assists in developing new processes and tools for reuse of technical solutions.
  • Creates or reviews engineering drawings, specifications and plans required by manufacturing, fabrication, or construction.
  • Manufacturing and Testing
  • Updates the engineering deliverables post installation & commissioning (if applicable).
  • Risk and opportunity management
  • Designs engineering solutions, including drawings and calculations according to contractual specification.
  • Participates in project meetings and presents specific aspects of design assignments.
  • Perform mechanical design for electrical distribution and control equipment according to customer specifications.
  • Ensure documents are controlled in a consistent format, and all changes are recorded accurately.
  • Technical contribution
  • Coordinates with Manufacturing and Testing functions to ensure the designs are appropriately manufactured/staged and tested.


Your background


  • Knowledge of 3D CAD software (Creo) and PLM (Windchill).
  • Strong communication skills, bilingualism (French and English).
  • BAC or DEC in electromechanical or mechanical engineering
  • Proven engineering skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining the high attention to details, team player.
  • Knowledge of ERP system (SAP preferable)
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in electro-mechanical engineering, design and manufacturing electrical distribution equipment and control panels up to 1000
  • Knowledge in electrical distribution equipment as switchboards, panelboard, and industrial control equipment.
  • Ability to identify the process and design improvements and actively participate in solutions.
