Key Deliverables and Responsibilities:

• Maintain item master accuracy.
• Schedule shipments of inbound materials in Shipping Calendar.
• Manage short lead time materials and short shelf life materials efficiently
• Contact suppliers in order to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.
• Based on the production schedule and inventory on hand calculate the material requirements to ensure continuous on time ingredients availability for production.
• Schedule material pick-up with 3rd party Logistics.
• Keep up information flow with the warehouse about the expected shipments and quantities
• Other duties as assigned
• Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files, reports and price lists.
• Prepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers.
• Collect all necessary data for new incoming materials.
• Check shipments when they arrive to ensure that orders have been filled correctly and those goods meet specifications.
• Respond to supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.
• Follow-up of purchase orders, verify accuracy and update system as required
• Involvement in the annual and ad hoc inventory counts.
• Provide clear communication with production and scheduler on material shortage or delays.
• Perform department duties when necessary.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Excellent problem solving/analytical skills, possess the ability to make decision and to influence;
• Effective administrative, time, and project management skills
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
• Post-secondary education with Focus in Supply Chain
• Supply chain/purchasing certification an asset
• Willing to work in a team environment, possess solid work ethic, and pays attention to detail;
• 3-5 years of Experience in Material Planning / Purchasing required
• Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Highly organized, well-planned, productive, self-directed individual who requires minimal supervision, and is able to meet tight production timelines;
• Experience managing relationships with external vendors
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working with a formalized MRP or ERP system; preferably JD Edward

Reporting of any Food Safety or Quality Problems: Staff are to report any food safety or food quality problems or concerns that they become aware of to personnel with authority to initiate action.
