Our team is growing, we are looking for Material Handlers to join our used auto parts and recycling yard located in Surrey, BC.
The steel manufacturing facility transforms recycled scrap metal into quality finished steel products such as reinforcing bar (rebar), wire rod, coiled bar, merchant bar, and other specialty products. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the preparation, processing and palletizing of truck rims. This position will make a great fit for you if you excel in manual and physical labor, can work independently, and thrive in a physically demanding, fast paced outdoor environment.
What you need to know:
This is a full-time position, the ideal candidate will need to be available to start immediately. Need to meet schedule requirements.
Location: Surrey, BC -Location is a 20-minute walk from Scott Road Station. A vehicle is preferred for this position
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Shift Time: 7:00AM-4:00PM
Wage: $22.50 /Hr.

You are comfortable working in a physically demanding and outdoor environment
Equipment On-Site: Shredder, forklifts, skid steers, loaders, scrap handlers, mobile and stationary shears, car crusher, rock trucks, vacuum truck
You have Hight Ankle Steel Toed Boots (No Steel Toe Shoes)
You are legally permitted to work Fulltime in British Columbia
Advantages
Hourly wage of $19-22/hourly
Schedule: Monday-Friday

Located in Surrey (Close to Scott Road Station)
Weekly Pay (Direct Deposits)
Minimum 40 hours a week and opportunities for overtime.
4% Vacation Pay added to every pay.
Great exposure to a wide variety of vehicles/products
Responsibilities
All Valves and foreign materials must be removed from the rims
Use of hand tools
Ensure the area is swept clean and all tripping hazards have been removed
Place pallets at least 4 feet from one another
Ensure pallets have been weighed before stacking
Stack the Rims; alternate 4 and 5 high
Shrink wrap the rims to the pallet, ensuring the rims are very secure and stable
Attention to detail, need to be able to move with forklift without falling over
Physical requirements; lift, move product/supplies in excess of 50lbs (pushing, pulling, bending)
Qualifications
Min of 1+ years of experience working in a yard or similar environment
You are comfortable working in an outdoor (bad weather) environment
Need to be able to work in a physically demanding atmosphere
You are capable and comfortable with utilizing hand tools, standing for long periods of time
Adaptability & sense of urgency
Good attention to details, able to work in a team environment or independently with no supervision
Any knowledge of working with vehicles considered an asset
A vehicle is considered an asset as this location is a 20-minute walk from the closest Skytrain station
You can meet the shift and schedule requirements
You can meet the physical requirements; lift, move product/supplies in excess of 50lbs (pushing, pulling, bending)

You are legally permitted to work Fulltime in British Columbia
