About this opportunity:


This position is accountable for providing technical and functional leadership in Health & Safety for the business unit or site. Additionally, this position will champion the implementation of Health & Safety processes that are aligned with Cenouvs’s Operational Integrity Management System (COIMS) and ensure compliance to regulatory standards and statutes for all aspects of Health & Safety specific to the operations and maintenance of the assigned business unit. This position will partner with management of the entity to shift safety behaviors continually improving the culture and focusing on continuous improvement.


This is an office position based at our Lloydminster, SK location. Travel to other sites will be required.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide and independent view of risk. Intervention may be required based in observations identified.
  • Assistance to the Lloydminster Refinery and HMGP entities in developing robust gap closure plans for gaps identified in COIMS gap assessments, audits, and assessments. Support the implementation of initiatives that close these gaps.
  • Maintain relationships with site leadership and central Health and Safety.
  • Support the creation of the yearly assurance plans per entity that includes the 3 lines of defense (LOD). This includes the assurance activities carried out by the Health and Safety team.
  • Accountable to deliver the yearly objects outlined in the Health & Safety performance contract that is in line with the entities.
  • Lead a team of professional occupational safety advisors that supports the safe operations and maintenance of the Lloyd Refinery and HMGP assets. Indirect accountability to lead the process safety engineers that support these entities.
  • Career development of individuals within the Health and Safety team.
  • Coaching and mentoring leadership and frontline staff on effective field engagements, shifting safety behaviors in individuals.
  • Responsible to ensure incidents are thoroughly investigated and actions put in place to prevent re-occurrence.


Qualifications:


  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Completion of post-secondary education (i.e Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Safety Discipline). An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Industrial hygiene
  • Safe work permit
  • Process safety auditing
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements in oil and gas environment.
  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience working/managing in the oil and gas or chemicals industry is required.
  • Emergency response
  • Contractor management
  • Experience with the following:


The following training/certifications are considered an asset:


  • Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
  • Root Cause Analysis and Incident Investigation Training/Certified Leader
  • Process Safety Related Training (PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, MOC)
