The Role
We are seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented Manager, Accounts Payable, to join our collaborative Finance team. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the company’s overall Procure to Pay process. The Manager, Accounts Payable, will supervise and lead one (1) direct team member and will report to the Director, Finance.
Responsibilities
- Manage monthly and quarterly closing and posting of AP records to meet reporting deadlines
- Overseeing routine department activities to ensure that they are completed accurately and on time.
- Liaise with various departments, including Purchasing and FP&A, to ensure adherence to company guidelines with respect to the Procure to Pay process
- Maintaining accurate and complete financial and client records.
- Manage monthly accruals as part of the month-end close process
- Work closely with Purchasing to manage vendor relations
- Preparation of applicable working papers in support of annual financial audits
- Review and streamline current AP processes to maximize efficiencies
- Complete and own balance sheet reconciliations pertaining to AP, Accrued Liabilities and Prepaid Expenses with a full understanding of the underlying details
- Perform other duties as required.
- Maintain an accurate Accounts Payable Subledger
- Identify, research and resolve invoice discrepancies
- Hiring, training, motivating, and evaluating accounts payable staff members.
- Manage payment runs, including EFTs/ACHs, wire transfers and cheques
Requirements
- Extremely attentive to detail
- Strong Excel skills and proficient with Microsoft Office applications
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate with individuals across multiple levels of the organization
- Strong prioritization and organization skills
- 7+ years of progressive experience in Accounts Payable with 2+ years’ experience in a managerial capacity
- Experience with NetSuite considered a definite asset
- Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working within a multi-currency environment with multiple legal entities
- Office applications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting/business or equivalent experience
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
