Locum Academic Psychiatrists For Kingston, Ontario

The Department of Psychiatry at Kingston, Ontario is recruiting locum or long-term Faculty psychiatrists.

• For locums: we are offering a range between $600-1,000 /day + OHIP billings. Travel support $1,500/week (depending on duration of locum)

Current Vacancies Are As Follows

• Adult Psychiatrist Psychiatrist for adults with developmental disabilities, working in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team (Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Social Workers) and with a number of agencies within the developmental sector, across Ontario. Most of the work can be done by videoconferencing. Clinical conferences for in-patients and out-patient clinics, and expert opinion solicited by other psychiatric colleagues.
• Geriatric Psychiatry Provide clinical work through the Seniors Mental Health Program at Providence Care. The program offers inpatient, outpatient, and community outreach services for older adults in Southeastern Ontario as well as consultation services to other local partners.
• Outpatient Care Psychiatrist Provide outpatient care to the community. Initially, to support patients who are primarily connected with Crisis and Intensive Case Management program, along with a few patients from Street Outreach and Community Home programs Working with a multi-disciplinary team, providing pharmacologic management (LAI, Clozapine, Lithium, complex care needs).
• Collaborative/Shared Care Provide psychiatric consultation to primary care physicians working in the community, mainly in large practices and/or in family health teams. Those teams and practices are often multi-disciplinary, creating opportunities for collaboration and capacity building.
• Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) ACT is designed to provide comprehensive, community-based psychiatric treatment, rehabilitation, and support to persons with serious and persistent mental illness. ACT teams are multidisciplinary in nature, including social work, rehabilitation, counseling, nursing, and psychiatric care. Among the services provided by ACT teams: case management, initial and ongoing assessments; psychiatric services; employment and housing assistance; family support and education; substance abuse services; and other services and supports critical to an individual’s ability to live successfully in the community.
• Addiction Psychiatry Provide Addiction consultation and follow up services both in Inpatient (Consultation-Liaison Addiction) and Outpatient settings. The Addiction psychiatrist will join the team that includes Addiction specialists from other Departments such as Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine.

Qualifications

• Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree (or equivalent), eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
• Preference will be given to applicants who have specialty certification from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada or the American Board of Specialties.
• Possess a senior academic track record and experience in clinical psychiatry as well as a proven record of research focus.
• Demonstrate outstanding teaching contributions, as well as proven commitment to providing exemplary clinical service within an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment.

Compensation For Full-time
Alternative Funding Model.
This model encourages and protects 10-20% academic commitment.
