Job Overview


The Lead Service Engineer is responsible to guide a small team of service engineers in the support of the MC51 R&D product at mining customer partner trial sites. This includes the commissioning, testing and overall productivity of MC51 R&D products and components. The team will provide timely troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and / or electrical aspects of the products and components at customer site according to defined specifications, monitoring productivity data/results to drive towards company productivity goals and working with the R&D design team to provide feedback on issues, changes, or future design considerations. This position will be a combination of hands-on mechanical work and lead role. The position will be based at Vale Garson Mine in Sudbury, Ontario with possibility of travel to other mines sites with future product installations.


Key Job Responsibilities


  • Monitors vacation schedule to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Commissioning of hard rock MC51 machine.
  • Coaches, motivates, trains, evaluates, and leads team members to accomplish the goals and objectives of the production operations.
  • Ensure planning of machine trial to maintain maximum productivity including resources, inventory, engineering support.
  • Hands on support to machine fault finding and breakdowns underground.
  • Training of the users in the maintenance and repair of the MC51machine.
  • Complies with Komatsu safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements.
  • Training of the users in the use of the MC51 machine.
  • Assembly of the hard rock MC51 machine.
  • Engage with engineering teams to determine specific customer design needs.
  • Builds strong relationships with internal and external customers to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Support the sourcing and supply of inventory required during machine trials at customer sites.
  • Inspection and complete tests of MC51 machine prototypes for proper functioning.
  • Completes accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.


Qualifications/Requirements


  • Ability to facilitate technical training and impart detailed information
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior customer relations and active listening skills
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment schematics
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Underground common core certification required
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems
  • Technical certification or diploma in mechanical or electrical fields
  • Flexible, self-motivated with demonstrated initiative to meet customer needs
  • Ability to work varied shift scheduled
  • Required to work underground and complete mine site clearance requirements
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • 5 years related maintenance, troubleshooting and operating experience with underground mining industry-specific equipment
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
