- Responsible for providing timely and accurate advice, guidance and further develop positive labour-management relations.
- Collaborate with all parties to develop a positive working relationship based upon mutual respect, trust and confidence and interact with key partners to resolve employment issues.
- Management of grievances and labour arbitrations, being proactive to resolve issues before grievances are filed and matters proceed to litigation, whenever possible;
- Manage the grievance process with an emphasis on mutual resolution that mitigate risk for the employer and maintain collaborative relationships with the union
- Conduct regular effectiveness and efficiencies reviews of systems, labour/ management processes and other key activities to ensure a best-in-class labour relations program
- Research, prepare and analyze statistics to meet the business strategy. Including interest-based bargaining, employee costing, consumer price indexing, market comparison, pension, legislation, and strike contingency planning in support of collective bargaining.
- Advise on negotiation process and strategies, prepare team for negotiations and manage the negotiation process.
- Review and develop policies, procedures and training materials that support the business goals and the employee experience
- Maintains effective day-to-day labour relations with the unions.
- Conduct investigations relative to complaints and disciplines; assists with conflict management, and dispute resolution or other employee and labour relations matters.
- Post-secondary education in relation to Labour Relations is an asset;
- Superior investigative skills and ability;
- Demonstrated ability to advise and implement operational plans in a large, complex organization;
- Must have significant recent related experience in labour relations, preferably within Health Care or Seniors Housing
- CPHR designation is an asset
- Demonstrated solution orientation
- Demonstrated excellent conflict resolution skills;
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Travel required within AB and BC
- Proven ability to engage others and work collaboratively as part of the HR team;
