Job Description
Fortis is a privately owned company based out of Saskatoon, SK. that provides mining, engineering, and manufacturing services to the mining and construction industries. The company has a global focus that offers contracting, subcontracting, and consulting services to a wide range of customers. Fortis is comprised of 6 divisions; Mining, Engineering, Manufacturing & Fabrication, Health & Safety, Equipment Testing & Recertification, and Mechanical Services.


We have an immediate need for highly motivated, safety-conscious Journeyperson Electrician (Underground) for a Potash project with our client at the Vanscoy mine site. This project is anticipated to run continuously, with a possibility of extension for this or other upcoming projects.


You will need to be available for a two week on, two week off rotation.

Responsibilities


  • Execute construction projects and order necessary components
  • Communication with Maintenance and Operations departments
  • Servicing, maintenance and repair of underground mechanical systems and underground equipment including Mining machines and belt systems.
  • Follow a planned execution required to achieve safe and effective repair and maintenance of support assets
  • Create weekly work schedules for maintenance
  • Coordinate outages to perform PMs on the electrical side of UG Equipment
  • Execution within working systems including high voltage areas
  • Carry out the duties of a Journeyperson Electrician safely, efficiently and as a collaborative team player and strong trouble-shooter.
  • Extensive SAP Experience/ Microsoft Office an asset
  • Maintain and execute maintenance plans on various mining equipment including Alpine AM50 , Drum cutter, Flexiveyor, Low Pro Miner, Scoops and mobile equipment.


Requirements


  • Ability to work with people, coordinate functions with other departments and contractors
  • Valid GMSA - General Mine Safety Awareness training
  • Ability to manage work in scheduling software
  • Knowledge of commonly used software packages including Microsoft Outlook. Excel, Word, and desktop process control software
  • Journeyperson Electrical certificate or Red Seal Certification
  • Valid First Aid/ CPR certificates
  • VFD, and control experience is considered an asset
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in an industrial / mining environment
  • Valid WHMIS and SCOT
  • Ability to work both day shift and night shift, on a rotation
  • Must display credibility and integrity to maintain the respect of superiors, subordinates, and peers
  • Pre-employment drug test will be required
  • Valid General Mine Safety Awareness - GMSA
  • Knowledge of mining and high voltage systems an asset
  • 5kV and 13.8kV experience is a MUST HAVE


Job Type: Temporary Full-Time


Compensation: Competitive Hourly Pay Based on Experience
