Job Description

To perform journeyperson level mechanical work on various makes and models of vehicles, and other mechanical equipment. The incumbent will be responsible for the routine maintenance as set out by the manufacturer, as well as the minor and major overhauls associated daily job/tasks.


Responsibilities

Maintains and repairs small, medium and large size Diesel and Gas maintenance, and acts in a pro-active manner to make timely recommendations for repair, provides labour data and ensures valid parts and quantities are listed accurately on work order for invoicing purposes. Also ensure that the story of maintenance performed is complete on each work order.

Provides assistance to other trades and contractors as required, and provides guidance and training to office staff for the trouble shooting.

Maintains a clean and safe work environment in the performance of work, maintains all tools and equipment in good working condition, and ensures compliance to all safety programs, health and safety legislation, and Corporation Safety Rules in the completion of work activities.

Provides training to and receives training from co-workers and performs other related duties related to as determined by the Owner/Operator.

Provides assistance with daily maintenance and care of the wash bay. Such as shoveling the pits, emptying garbage’s, ensuring floors are clean and soap container is full.

Responsible for vehicle towing and recovery.


Qualifications

  • Journeyman Automotive Technician certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in written and verbal form, as well as work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Eligible for a valid NWT Class 5 driver's license.
  • Several years experience with repair, maintenance and operation of vehicles and their related equipment. Must have the ability to diagnose problems and propose solutions.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, diagrams, and specifications of a variety of types of mechanical equipment, including manufacturer's manuals and parts books.
