Job Description
Are you an IT professional looking for a new career opportunity? Wolverine Power Cooperative has an opening on their IT team for an IT Support Technician. As Wolverine's IT Support Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, and software. Additionally, you will respond to queries, run diagnostics, isolate problems, and determine and implement solutions.
This position will report from Wolverine's corporate headquarters located in Cadillac, Michigan. Wolverine's campus is nestled in the forest and offers beautiful views to nature; a two-mile hiking trail; an outdoor patio; an on-site wellness center; and more! Wolverine is a generation and transmission electric cooperative and a leader in renewables - supplying wholesale electric power to 265,000 customers throughout the state of Michigan.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitor software usage.
  • Maintain computer asset management and work issues tracking system.
  • Ensure network connectivity of all workstations and troubleshoot when needed.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure the issue has been resolved.
  • Maintain a spare parts inventory.
  • Wipe and reload machines for use elsewhere in the company. Dispose / recycle old equipment as necessary following WPC guidelines.
  • Provide technical support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware. Respond to queries either in person or over the phone.
  • Install and update computer hardware and software including operating system updates and antivirus software programs at the headquarters and remote locations.
  • Write various instructional procedures and train computer users.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required
  • Requires strong written and oral communication skills and proven analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge of PC hardware, operating systems, and basic networking.
  • Two years working with Microsoft Office products.
  • Proven hands-on hardware trouble shooting experience and experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Associate degree in the field of computer science preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, execute and document tasks.
  • Travel to plants and service centers will be required.
  • Must have a solid customer service attitude when working with end users.
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture and the common software systems/suites available.
  • Certifications preferred include MCSE, Network +, A+.
