The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an individual as an Intermediate Electrical Technologist to contribute to our projects. To keep our employees as safe as possible, we've transitioned to remote work temporarily where possible.You may be directed by the ZE management to report to Richmond office as per the business requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentorship and guidance to other more junior staff.
• Interface with other design disciplines, coordinate with related stakeholders, and assist team leads and managers
• Use CAD software and computer-aided design methods to solve problems and prepare drawings
• Prepare layouts, conceptual designs, calculations, illustrations and independent checks for primarily distribution projects ranging in voltage from 14.4kV to 35kV including overhead and underground, but with the potential to work on Transmission and Substation projects up to 500kV. Work could include bus and equipment arrangements, support structures and insulators, ground grids and grounding studies, station service design and cable systems.
• Support documentation process for projects including technical specifications, tender documents, technical reports and project calculations
• Willing to assist in a variety of project support activities including project coordination, strategic planning, client support, and business analysis supporting the business development and project management departments

Qualifications

• A diploma or degree in technology or engineering - electrical or mechanical preferred
• Hold a Class 5 driver's license
• Experience with BC Hydro's design systems and standards an asset
• Strong knowledge of Power Transmission and Distribution networks and standards
• Experience with AutoCAD, Excel, and Word
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the electrical utility industry
• Experience with PLS-CADD or other finite element analysis software an asset
