Two (2) Permanent Positions Available
Job Summary
This position will support the OMA Insurance Department by working closely with OMA members to analyze their insurance and retirement needs. The Insurance Advisor sources new relationships while deepening existing one with the OMA membership. They do so by proactively reaching out to members to deliver a unique member experience that comprises of tailored insurance and retirement solutions that meets the needs of OMA members at every stage of their life and career. The approach is simple, ensuring to create a lasting relationship that ensures on-going support to the member. Additionally, the Insurance Advisor is the primary point of contact for member inquires and will handle all inbound and outbound calls and emails from members, preparing recommendations for members, while ensuring completion and submission of insurance applications, along with other disclosure forms as required by the regulators. The insurance advisor will have knowledge of retirement products such as RRSP, TFSAs and RRIF to ensure support of member inquires as it relates to retirement planning.
You Will Make a Difference By
  • Creating and following up on current and future business leads and renewals.
  • Conducting over the phone consultations and ad-hoc in-person meetings to provide insurance solutions that meet and exceed the prescribed sales and retention targets.
  • Working within a team-based approach in a busy insurance department you will contribute by proactively outreaching to members to complete the needs analysis, presenting concepts, composing and presenting detailed written solutions/recommendations.
  • Conducting mailings and phone calls based on departmental marketing initiatives
  • Building, developing, and maintaining strong relationships with local OMA Regional Managers, and key stakeholders to leverage networks, to foster relationships and ensure the value proposition relating to Insurance services is promoted and well understood.
  • Advising, educating and cross-selling OMA Insurance solutions that include our retirement planning program and be knowledgeable with Group RRSP, TFSAs and RRIF products to be able to educate members on their retirement planning options through OMA insurance.
  • Assisting in the development and execution of marketing initiatives by presenting ideas for discussion and implementation and providing feedback based on insight gained from direct contact with members.
  • Conducting and actively participating in relevant insurance and retirement planning based seminars, presentations as well as locally sponsored events to medical students, residents and practicing physicians to reinforce insurance needs.
  • Providing on-going service and support to new and existing members and their families.
  • Completing and submitting insurance applications and other necessary disclosure documents to ensure complete compliance during the new business process. This includes providing follow-up to members to complete the fulfillment of insurance solutions in accordance with department standards.
Requirements That Are Important To Us
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or equivalent
  • Passionate about Member Experience, ensuring that OMAI maintains its tradition of exceeding Member expectations
  • Willingness to pursue the CFP, CLU designations is expected
  • 6 years experience in the life/disability insurance field
  • Experience with the application of life products to issues and opportunities faced by individuals in the early and mid-career stages of working life
  • Willing to travel within Ontario on an ad-hoc basis
  • Life Licensed in Ontario and in good standing to sell life and health insurance in identified provincial jurisdictions
  • Experience with marketing insurance products to mid to moderate high net worth individuals and professionals.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of group life insurance, life insurance, disability income and health products
  • Expertise with computer-based illustration and presentations
The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such, the individual in this position will be required to work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office.
