Instructor, Pharmacy Assistant Jobs

The School of Health and Public Safety at SAIT prepares students for a dynamic career in the health care sector. We offer specialized training in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, professional assistant programs, information management, and training for wellness professionals. Our programs are hands on, with students and instructors immersed in living classrooms and simulated training.

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a contract casual Instructor to teach pharmacy assistant skills for both theory and lab content in our Pharmacy Assistant program. The Instructor, Pharmacy Assistant will participate as a member of the Health and Wellness instructing team, and report to the Academic Chair for Wellness Programs.

The Role

• Contribute in a positive way to maintain a team environment
• Promote professionalism and coach students
• Other duties as assigned
• Evaluate student progress through a variety of assessment techniques
• Promote and support SAIT Polytechnic’s mission statements, strategic and academic plans
• Provide a high quality of education for students
• Provide students with real world context from the practice of pharmacy
• Facilitate student achievement through mentorship
• Update course outlines and modules for theory
• Provide expertise in D2L/Brightspace development and use
• Prepare and deliver lectures face to face and online, both synchronously and asynchronously, to students enrolled in the program and potentially to other programs in the department

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience delivering courses in an online environment.
• Background in the discipline of pharmacy with at least five (5) years of experience working in a fast-paced pharmacy setting in Alberta.
• Preference will be given to candidates with previous pharmacy teaching experience.
• Strong educational background with experience teaching or mentoring students.
• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and thrive in a team environment.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, an online learning management system along with communication software are strongly recommended.
• Must possess a wealth of knowledge in pharmacy practice as exhibited by a combination of education, work experience and instructional experience.
• Must have a very flexible schedule to accommodate with the student’s timetable

Job classification: Instructor - S4001

Hourly Range: $35.46 - $39.88
