Position Title: Security Specialist
Team and Location: IT - Calgary, AB
Minimum Starting Salary from: $ 79,600 /year
Position Summary:
Parkland is looking for an Information Security Specialist that will work within the IT Security Architecture team. This role will consist of participating in various projects during the systems development lifecycle to review business requirements, research vendor products and security controls, evaluate security designs, and ensure security controls have been implemented.
The Information Security Specialist will continuously research and keep up-to-date with evolving industry security standards and best practices. You will assist with the development of various security controls and documentation.
This role requires well rounded cyber security expertise in multiple security domains as this role will perform threat modeling, security risk assessments and debriefing risk owners. You will work with the business and IT teams to identify risks and solution risk mitigations to protect Parkland systems.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with multiple teams and initiatives to apply good security practices, ensuring security is integrated into solution designs, and recommend architecture remediation.
  • Perform threat modeling and security risk assessments for various project initiatives to identify security risks and communicate findings with stakeholders.
  • Work with program, project, and operational teams and leadership to assess the security risks of existing/new solutions including their associated processes.
  • Define security requirements by evaluating business strategies; researching information security standards; reviewing architecture/platform; identifying integration issues.
  • Provide in-depth zero trust expertise across security functional areas, which include credential management, access provisioning, authentication and authorization, application security, DevSecOps, infrastructure security, data security, API security integration and security monitoring aligned with Privacy, PCI and SOX compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Review technological and procedural cyber security solutions within a complex, fast and ever-changing, internationally spread IT environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Security Consulting
  • Cloud Computing
  • Endpoint Security
  • Extensive knowledge in risk management and analysis, security technologies, processes and standards e.g. ITIL, ISO 2700x, SOC 2 Type 2, NIST standards
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and/or on a team and meet deadlines.
  • Application Security
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology related field of study or equivalent experience.
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in the cyber security field that encompasses the following:
  • Security Operations
  • Governance, Risk and Compliance
  • Experience in working with enterprise IT governance.
  • Certifications in cloud computing for Amazon Web Services and Azure is considered an asset such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills; time management and organizational skills.
  • Performing Threat Modeling and Risk Assessments
  • Ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines with multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Certifications in one or more of the following are required: CISSP, CCSP, ISSAP, SANS, GICSP, OSCP, ISACA, SABSA, AWS, Azure Security
