Job Title: Senior Manager, Information Technology Security
Location: Greater Toronto Area (West End)
Workplace Type - Hybrid - 3 days per week in office
Reports to: VP, Information Technology
Job Summary:
The Senior Manager of IT Security is a strategic leader responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining a comprehensive cybersecurity program tailored to the unique requirements of our retail organization. This role encompasses defining and implementing the long-term security strategy, collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing cybersecurity risks, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The Senior Manager will lead a team of cybersecurity professionals, fostering a culture of security awareness and education throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with external vendors and partners to optimize security technologies and threat intelligence.
- Oversee security incident response, ensuring effective management, investigation, and communication.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive cybersecurity training and awareness program for employees at all levels.
- Stay updated on evolving cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies within the retail sector.
- Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations and standards, such as PCI-DSS, GDPR, and other data privacy requirements.
- Build relationships with external partners, vendors, and peers to stay informed about emerging threats and best practices in retail cybersecurity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cybersecurity controls into retail processes, projects, and initiatives.
- Develop and articulate a visionary cybersecurity strategy aligned with the retail organization's goals and objectives.
- Maintain a deep understanding of retail-specific regulatory requirements, industry standards, and compliance obligations.
- Establish a risk management framework for retail, identifying, assessing, and prioritizing cybersecurity risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of a retail-specific cybersecurity program, covering e-commerce platforms, point-of-sale systems, supply chain security, and customer data protection.
- Drive a culture of security awareness and education across the organization, emphasizing the role of each employee in maintaining a secure retail environment.
- Provide strategic guidance to the senior leadership team on cybersecurity matters related to the retail sector.
- Provide regular reports on the organization's cybersecurity posture, metrics, and retail-specific initiatives to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- Strong understanding of retail-specific cybersecurity frameworks, regulations, and industry standards.
- Relevant certifications such as CISO, CISSP, or similar leadership-level certifications are strongly preferred.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Prior leadership experience in a retail or e-commerce environment is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and emerging trends, with a focus on strategic planning and risk management in a retail context.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex cybersecurity concepts to non-technical stakeholders and align cybersecurity objectives with business goals.
- 7-10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 10 years in leadership positions.
- Proven experience leading and managing cybersecurity teams.
