Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) | Quesnel River Pulp

Quesnel River Pulp is a mechanical pulping process, yielding 1100 tonnes per day of bleached thermo-mechanical pulp. The process equipment includes refiners; fans and blowers; belt, chain, and screw conveyors; presses; pumps; agitators; and compressors. The Mechanical Department has a machine shop, maintenance shop, and rebuild area. We take pride in our safety record and we constantly strive to be an industry leader.

The successful applicant possesses an industrial mechanic/millwright trade certification and demonstrated competence within the trade. It is required to be attentive to safety and quality, possesses a strong work ethic, and to hold a valid BC driver’s license.

Extra consideration will be given for a second trade certification or a willingness to assist in a variety of mechanical work as required. Quesnel River Pulp welcomes job flexibility and enrichment: employees often develop new skills, work closely with other departments, and take responsibility for areas or systems.

Please note if you have any familiarity with the following:

• Investigating failures
• Lubrication
• Pulp and paper or similar industry
• Alignment and rebuild
• Hydraulics and pneumatics
• Welding and fabricating
• Troubleshooting
• Precision maintenance training

The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:30. In addition, the successful applicant will periodically be assigned to work shifts: shift rotations last 8 weeks and are two 12hr days plus two 12hr nights followed by four days off. Each millwright works on average 2.5 rotations each year and working shifts is a job requirement.
