Job Description
Closing the Gap Healthcare (CTG) is dedicated to providing Canadians with the highest level of care across a wide range of home-based and community-setting services.


As a leader in the home- and community-care industry, CTG is pioneering a one-of-a-kind paid healthcare education program. We are launching our very own Home Support Worker program where we will be providing paid virtual classroom training, paid on-the-job training, and guaranteed full-time employment to compassionate and independent individuals who are looking to enter the field of healthcare.


We are hiring in the following areas:


Guelph Region: Kitchener, Waterloo, Wellington, Guelph, Erin, Rockwood, Fergus, Elora, Mount Forest, Cambridge


St. Thomas Region: St. Thomas, Rodney, West Lorne, Dutton, Port Stanley, Aylmer, Tillsonburg


Dufferin Region: Orangeville, Shelburne


Halton Region: Oakville, Milton


Muskoka and Timiskaming: Huntsville, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Port Severn, Timmins, Kirkland Lake, New Liskard, Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls.


What is this program all about?


  • Learn about the benefits of providing home care and working in people’s homes. Build on your healthcare skills in coordinating with your client and their family and meeting the complexity of their care needs.
  • Identify healthcare issues using basic assessment strategies and report findings.
  • Gain best-in-class knowledge regarding home care and service plans to assist individuals with daily living routines, such as assisting with feeding, lifting and transferring, dressing and undressing, respite care, peri-care, bathing, personal hygiene, and safe bathroom use. Other critical skills training includes household management, nutrition, and food preparation.
  • Master an integral part of what Home Support Workers provide as part of a multi-disciplinary care team.

What you would do as a Home Support Worker?


  • Help clients with mobility, positioning, and transferring.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided and report changes in clients’ conditions to the appropriate party
  • Help with meal preparation, feeding, and medication reminders.
  • Provide basic personal and medical care to clients according to their individual care plans.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for clients and report any issues to the appropriate party.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.


Requirements


  • Possess a reliable vehicle and be willing/able to travel to client homes as needed.
  • Able to commit to 5 weeks of full-time training
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions closely.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening check upon hire
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
