We are proud to say we are one of Forbes 2022 Canada’s Best Employers; here’s why!

Lactalis Canada is enriching and nurturing the lives of Canadians with a diverse offering of dairy products such as Black Diamond Cheese, Lactantia Milk, Astro Yogurt, Balderson Cheese, and Cheestrings; our products are in 94% of Canadian homes! For over 140 years we’ve grown through innovation and a strong dedication to quality, and we’re looking for like minded individuals to keep that growth progressing by joining our team!

We offer a hybrid working model to accommodate the evolving needs of our employees, allowing for flexible work-weeks with 40% work-from-home. Our office has a collaborative, newly renovated workspace with a number of amazing benefits; free parking, free coffee, free yummy Lactalis snacks, a free on-site gym and other great perks to provide the best possible environment for success!

About the opportunity:

The Funding Analyst works directly with the Director, Government, Regulatory and Industry Affairs and with other members of the Grants and Incentives Team on initiatives aimed at securing public funding for projects that have been identified as priorities by Lactalis Canada.

The incumbent is responsible for converting technical information provided by Manufacturing/Plants, R&D, Engineering, Finance, and other business units, into plain language depicting the essence of a project in a manner that is suitable for funding applications.

The attributes we are looking for:

· Gather information pertaining to Lactalis Canada’s planned investments in relation to new products, new production lines, expansion of existing activities, innovation, efficiency/optimization of resources, automation, staff training, transition to greener energy sources or other ESG-related initiatives and assess if the projects contemplated may qualify for government incentives (i.e. ‘’right fit’’ between business drivers behind a project and funding program themes, objectives and requirements).

· Continuously seek out funding opportunities that match Lactalis Canada’s long-term investment plan (LTP) and communicate opportunities to internal customers (Marketing, Manufacturing, etc.).

· Compile and regularly update a list of funding programs administered by the various departments and agencies of the Federal and provincial governments, or other program administrators. Actively pursue new funding opportunities.

· Communicate with program administrators to gather program information (eligible applicants, eligible projects and activities, eligible expenditures, assessment criteria, etc.) when doubts persist following the reading and analysis of the Applicant Guide or other publicly available information.

· Support the development, execution, and monitoring of funding applications engagement plans (orienting the right projects towards the right programs to maximize opportunities).

· Enter data and qualitative information in internal tools (e.g., Excel, Qlik or other databases) to track funding applications and compliance/reporting for approved funding. Prepare reports, tables, diagrams, or other types of figures that will improve the effectiveness of internal and external communication products.

· Support the Director, Government, Regulatory and Industry Affairs on other regulatory, government relations or industry relations files, time permitting and as deemed appropriate.

What you will bring:

Education & Experience

· University degree or College diploma in Engineering, Food Science, Finance, Business administration, Agricultural economics, Agronomy, or other related discipline.

· Minimum two (2) years of experience in the food industry, with a Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) company or in government.

· Experience completing funding applications or evaluating funding proposals is a strong asset.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Good judgment; high degree of integrity and attention to details.

· Ability to apply knowledge and strategic thinking.

· Interest towards understanding the science and technology behind manufacturing processes.

· Ability to create, edit and organize technical documentation.

· Ability to work in unstructured environments and to multi-task, with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

· Ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to work cross functionally with members of other business divisions. Also, ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills including ability to clearly articulate, and ability to present and communicate position in both written and oral forms in English.

· Ability to read, write and speak French is a strong asset for the role.

· Excellent ability to operate standard office applications such as Microsoft Office.

· General knowledge in Federal and Provincial Grants & Contributions processes. Prior experience in securing private or public funding is an asset.
