As a Home Support Worker with Home Instead, you will receive:

While the exact services you deliver will depend on your skills, personality, and the needs of our clients, potential duties include


  • Personal Care
  • Accompanying clients to appointments
  • Dementia and Alzheimer's support
  • Medication and appointment reminders
  • Contributing to a positive living environment to enhance a client’s quality of life
  • Mobility assistance
  • Companionship and conversation
  • Nurse Directed Services
  • Palliative Care
  • Light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation


Requirements Of The Position


  • Aid with lifting and/or transferring of client following lifting/safety techniques.
  • Visits are 12 hours in length.
  • Overnight & Day positions 3 on 3 off rotational.
  • Candidates must be fluent in written and spoken English and, upon hire, provide a clear criminal background check and vulnerable sector check.
  • Clients home is located close to Nanaimo North Town Center.
  • Own vehicle with valid auto insurance is not required, but considered an asset.
  • Observe and monitor clients progress, symptoms and behavioral changes and report significant observations.
