WHO WE ARE

We are a team of highly experienced business professionals, some of us from the investment management industry. We started and built a top-ranked investment management business in London, UK and Toronto, Canada. We developed an operations risk management system and used it successfully in our own businesses for over thirty years. We now want to commercialize this system and are speaking to and receiving support from investors and advisors, with a view to achieving this goal.

The company is based in Canada, with team members located in Canada, the United Kingdom and Brazil. We are an early-stage startup aiming to disrupt the market for financial investment operations risk management software, based on its ease of use, degree of automation and price.

WHAT WE ARE SOLVING FOR

As asset managers, we were faced with the lack of operations risk management systems that were affordable and easy to implement. So we developed our own solution, RiskTec, and successfully used it in our own businesses.

There is a void in the market for an operations risk management system for small to mid-sized asset managers. It is a massive, untapped market.

The software to be developed is an evolution of the system that has been developed and used over many years by the founders of the company. RiskTec Systems is about to embark on a two-phase piece of work. The first (six month) phase will result in a “beta” version of the product. This will roll into a second phase to develop and commercialize the full product, and to support and enhance the product in the market.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

RiskTec Systems is seeking a Full Stack Software Developer to become a member of our founding team.

As a Full Stack Software Developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining both the user interface and back-end APIs of the web application.

Responsibilities:

• Writing high-quality, clean, and maintainable code
• Design, development, and testing of RESTful APIs and front-end components
• Wireframe and design of the web application's UI, working with business users to obtain requirements
• Participation in test and problem resolution activities, and user documentation tasks
• Development and maintenance of the web application's user interface and API backend

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in Django and DRF, React and Next JS, and web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JS
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs
• Knowledge of how to convert a UI into separate components
• Experience with state management solutions both Redux and Context API
• Experience with Figma and UI wireframing
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
• Experience with Git and GitHub
• Solid understanding of front-end development principles and best practices
• Experience developing front-end components from a wireframe

Nice to Have:

• Experience in fintech or financial services
• Experience with Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes, and cloud providers GCP or AWS
• Knowledge of Typescript
• Experience with Storybook, Tailwind CSS, and E2E testing with Cypress or similar
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices

The successful candidate will become a key member of the RiskTec start-up team, working initially on the “beta” version of the product and then, funding permitting, the full product and its enhancements. Remuneration will take the form of equity in the company.
