REPORTS TO: Creative Services Manager


DEPARTMENT: Marketing and Communications


LOCATION: North Bay


REFERENCE: 800-28B-24


SALARY: $59,982- $70,568

Accountability Statement


The Front-End Web Developer will ensure that the website is maintained, current, functioning, engaging, and meets industry standards. The role is responsible for central website development, which includes design, maintenance, and publishing.


Major Duties/ Responsibilities


  • Administers and updates digital platforms (beyond the website).
  • Enhance and maintain Ontario Northland’s web presence.
  • Assists and delivers technical training to employees about how to post to the web and submit content.
  • Ensures that translations are made to meet the requirements of the French Language Service Act and meet accessibility requirements.
  • Participate in projects related to the website, ensuring realistic deadlines and milestones for large projects.
  • Create reporting and metrics as they relate to the website and performance.
  • Liaise with content stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Perform regular maintenance such as replacing images, posting service updates, schedules, blog posts, documents, and more.
  • Integrates third-party platforms into the website and ensures they meet brand style requirements and function properly
  • Other duties as required.
  • Post new content and improve functionality to ensure a visitor has a positive and engaging experience.
  • Works closely with the team to ensure all promotional campaigns have a digital presence.
  • Identify content on the website that requires updating and finds solutions by engaging other team members or external suppliers.
  • Innovate and enhance digital systems to ensure Ontario Northland is keeping up with emerging technologies and trends.


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Aptitude in graphic design software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and other visual design tools.
  • Diploma in Web design, Computer Programming or a degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Training on Drupal Web Development preferred.
  • 3-5 years of direct work experience with web protocols, standards, and technologies
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
  • Proficiency in front-end development web programming languages such as HTML and CSS, JQuery, and JavaScript
  • Must be committed to company health and safety
  • Understanding of emerging trends and new technologies
  • Bilingual (French and English) is an asset
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook with a strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Understanding of content management systems (including Drupal), search engine optimization principles and of cross-browser compatibility issues
