Fly-In Fly-Out Youth Care Practitioner

Duties

● Apply intervention plans for clients.

● Provide positive reinforcement for client behaviour.

● Organize and coordinate activities for the clients.

● Observe, analyze, and record client behaviours.

● Attend and participate in team meetings.

● Comply with safety and prevention measures.

● Supervise clients inside and outside the centre, including during any outings the clients attend.

● Implementing emergency protocols, crisis interventions and non-violent physical interventions as needed.

● Teach life skills to clients.

Your Qualifications & Skills

● A minimum of 5 years of experience working with children and youth within a similar environment.

● Post-secondary education in child and youth care or special care counselling, or a bachelor’s degree in psychoeducation, psychology, criminology, social work, or another relevant degree or diploma.

● Must possess a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

● English fluency is required, and knowledge of French or Inuktitut would be a strong asset.

● Able to adapt and work well with clients from different cultural backgrounds.

● Sensitive and understanding of the needs of others.

● Mature with a strong positive attitude.

● Able to collaborate well within a team.

● Ability to work independently; a self-starter.

● Resilience, independence, and confidence.

● Working understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.

● Successful candidates are responsible for providing a recent clear criminal reference check, vulnerable sector screening, tuberculosis skin test, up-to-date immunization record, and a clear driver’s abstract
