Job Description

Adecco is currently hiring for a full-time, permanent Fleet & Maintenance Supervisor, to work for a leader in transportation in Western Canada, located in SE Calgary, AB. In this role, you will be responsible for helping with fleet-related maintenance including monitoring DVIRs and service intervals for all forklifts, trucks, and trailers. You will also help coordinate repairs and maintenance with local vendors while monitoring costs and ensuring equipment meets the terminal's operational needs.
  • Job type: Full-time | Permanent
  • Pay Rate: $65,000 - $70,000 /year
  • Location: SE Calgary, AB
  • Shift: 8 am - 5:30 pm | On-call assistance in emergency rescues may be required

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Enforcement of fleet administration standards and vehicle operating policies
  • Assist in maintaining a variety of records and files related to vehicles, maintenance, repairs, projects, mileage, depreciation, financial activity, and assigned duties
  • Monitor and evaluate vehicle maintenance, including the service and repair functions to identify needs and determine financial effectiveness and operational efficiency
  • Perform direct off-site maintenance, repair and recovery functions for roadside vehicle malfunctions
  • Evaluate the performance of drivers during initial training and interviews
  • Monitor and schedule maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles for the Calgary & Edmonton terminals by reviewing DVIRs
  • Arrange the selling or disposal of used vehicles
  • The ability to be on call when required
  • Research and evaluate new vehicles and assist in the coordination of the purchasing of and to assure optimal pricing and quality of vehicles for the business
  • Assure adequate personnel, equipment, and material levels to meet maintenance, servicing, and repair needs
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Review and approve all invoices related to purchases of supplies for trucks and equipment in Edmonton & Calgary
  • Complete minor repairs on-site as needed
  • Monitors fuel used from the yard tanks for trailers (heaters and reefers)
  • Assist with incident and accident investigations as needed
  • Monitor DEF usage & invoices
  • Confer with various internal departments concerning vehicle needs and issues
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Class 1 driver's license is mandatory
  • Flexible and adaptable to change, with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service/communication skills are a must
  • Should be mechanically inclined
  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
  • Forklift train the trainer certification is an asset
  • Experience operating a forklift, pallet jack, and power jack to load trailers is required
  • Able to work under pressure, and overtime when needed
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude are required at all time
  • Able to manage people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Must pass a Drug and Alcohol screening
  • Very organized with excellent multitasking and problem-solving skills
  • 3-5 years of experience in the transportation industry is a must
