Job Responsibilities:
The primary role of the approved candidate would be to assist our company in providing fire sprinkler design and engineering services of high-quality standards in an efficient and cost- effective way. This would include:
Communicate with clients for projects information and site visits
Arrange hydrant flow tests with cities and clients, perform tests and prepare reports
Visit project sites and record information of buildings and fire sprinkler systems
Prepare drawings of existing fire sprinkler systems, where required
Prepare demolition plans, where applicable
Design fire sprinkler system drawings and hydraulic calculations for existing buildings per Ontario Fire Code, Ontario Building Code, and applicable standards
Communicate effectively with project team and clients from project inception to completion
Prepare fire sprinkler systems drawings and hydraulic calculations for new construction projects
Apply for building permits, follow for permit approvals, and close out
Assist in evaluation of hazards, commodities, storages, and fire sprinkler systems Other responsibilities assigned by company for this position.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years fire sprinkler systems design and drafting experience.
Must be proficient in AutoCAD.
Understanding of Architectural, Structural and Mechanical and Electrical plans Extensive knowledge of NFPA 13
Knowledge of Fire Pumps and NFPA 20
Working knowledge of NFPA 14
Design experience with NFPA 13D and 13R
HydraCALC knowledge, hydraulic calculations, and its application Knowledge of Ontario Fire Code
Knowledge of Ontario Building Code
Collaborative approach, good communication and organizational skills
Clean Driving License
Below Skills and qualifications would be asset:
HydraCAD experience
AutoSprink Experience
REVIT Experience
BIM Coordination Experience
Fire Protection Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent education in fire protection. P. Eng Designation
E.I.T.
CTech, or CET designation
CFAA Registered Technician
Experience in fire alarm design
BCIN Certified
NICET Certification
CFPS Certification
Special Hazard Fire Suppression Systems design experience
Knowledge of NFPA 10, NFPA 22, NFPA 25 and NFPA 30 Knowledge of NFPA 72, ULC 524
Experience in design of fire protection systems for high buildings
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Freelance
Part-time hours: 20-40 per week
