Economic Development
At the Department of Economic Development, our mandate is to develop a sustainable and competitive Yukon economy to enrich the quality of life of all Yukoners; to pursue economic initiatives with a shared vision of prosperity, partnerships and innovation; and to forge partnerships with First Nations in the economic development of the territory.
From advising small businesses to attracting investment, we connect our clients with the right people and resources to turn good ideas into reality. We provide analysis and insight that inform smart decision-making and assist clients as they access government supports. We are here to help businesses, industries and communities to see the big picture, envision the future of the Yukon economy, and find a path forward.
The Finance and Information Management Branch manages the financial, information management, and information technology activities for the department to support branches in meeting operational requirements. We provide direction, guidance, and support services to all program areas to assist the department in achieving its vision of sustainable and diversified economy for Yukon.
We are looking for a person who has strong client service focus and is able to work in a deadline driven work environment. The ability to work independently and in a team environment is key to this position. The incumbent works with a variety of financial management functions and needs to be able to critically analyse financial information to meet the departmental goals.

Essential Qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications – specifically – how your work experiences and related duties align with the essential qualifications shown below. Ensure a month/year format is used for each work experience. Note that selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.
  • Experience in performing various monthly, and year-end reconciliations, reports and reviewing transfer payment agreements
  • Considerable experience in maintaining data sets to provide financial analyses, options and recommendations to management and decision makers
  • Considerable experience using financial systems and Microsoft applications, including advanced Excel (please indicate specific systems you have used.)
  • Advanced coursework in accounting and/or financial management
  • Experience applying legislation and/or policies and procedures to make decisions and provide advice and recommendations
  • Experience forecasting and interpreting financial reports such as ongoing trend analysis
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of clients
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Strong analytical and strategical thinking with the ability to present ideas and recommendations to program managers and management.
  • Extremely high attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize workload when dealing with changing priorities, under a deadline driven work environment, particularly at month and year end.
