Job Description
Job Summary And Requirements
This posting is to fill a permanent- full time position working 75 hours bi-weekly.
Reporting to the Supervisor of Family Resource Unit, Family Resource Worker is responsible for providing and maintaining a culturally appropriate home-based support service to caregivers with children 0-19 years of age. The position works to strengthen the caregiver-child relationship by improving parenting skills, reducing caregiver stress, and addressing the needs of caregivers to promote a safe and healthy environment for children and their families.
We are looking for creative and flexible individuals who have a passion for working with families who are experiencing many stressors in their lives.
Essential Qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. Please note selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.
  • Knowledge and experience in childhood development and learning.
  • Experience working with families who have experienced trauma and/or knowledge of trauma informed practice would be an asset.
  • Post-secondary coursework in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, or another social sciences field.
  • Experience providing social services, education and support to families, children and/or adolescence.
  • Experience working with families in both one-on-one and group settings.
Equivalency: Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications above may be equally considered.
Knowledge, Skills, And Suitability
Candidates should have and may be assessed on:
  • Understanding of the values and practices of strength based, family centered services.
  • Ability to provide high quality services to families.
  • Excellent organization, communication (both oral and written), and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to build rapport and trust in relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Information
Conditions of Employment:
  • TB screening,
  • RCMP criminal record check with vulnerable sector clearance,
  • Valid Yukon class 5 driver’s licence
  • Verification of education
  • First Aid with CPR-C (within 3 months of hire)
Job Requirements
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Lifting and carrying children weighing up to 40 lbs
  • Travel to do home visits, attend meetings and connect with Yukon Communities
