Applications are invited for a tenure-track faculty position in Emergency and Critical Care at the level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences. The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate include: high quality didactic and clinical instruction in Emergency and Critical Care to undergraduate and postgraduate veterinarians, residents, interns and veterinary technicians; supervisory and organizational oversight for the full service Emergency Service and Intensive Care Unit; supervisory case management and consultation for emergency and critical care cases presenting to the Veterinary Medical Centre, and research and scholarship in the field of Emergency and Critical Care. Contributions to the continuing education of practicing veterinarians is encouraged and expected. A strong primary and referral emergency caseload which is enhanced by the Bev Hughes Clinical Skills Centre provides a strong foundation for specialists with a passion for teaching.
The Western College of Veterinary Medicine is western Canada’s regional college of veterinary medicine. Annually 88 students are admitted to the DVM program. The College also has approximately 170 graduate students, interns, and residents. It is part of a comprehensive academic health sciences group at the University of Saskatchewan (

The Veterinary Medical Centre is a state-of-the-art facility servicing western Canada as an AVMA and AAHA accredited hospital and referral centre. Equipment and diagnostic enhancements include endoscopic and interventional equipment, a mechanical ventilator, ROTEM and platelet aggregometry, CT scanner, fluoroscopy, MRI, nuclear scintigraphy, linear accelerator with SRT and IMRT capabilities and PET-CT.

Applicants must possess a DVM degree or its equivalent and must be eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Saskatchewan. The successful candidate should be a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) or have credentials acceptable to the ACVECC at the time the appointment becomes effective. Diplomate status in the ACVECC is required for tenure. An advanced research degree is desirable.
Salary bands for this position are as follows: Assistant Professor: $98,178 to $117,978; Associate Professor: $117,978 to $137,778; and Professor: $137,778 to $160,878 and is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
