Introduction

Our client, a leading multi-billion dollar company, is embarking on an ambitious venture to construct a state-of-the-art giga factory. This facility will revolutionize our industry and redefine the way products are manufactured. Brunel is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Factory Layout Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team.

As a Factory Layout Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development and design of the factory layout for this giga factory construction project. You will be responsible for creating concept and basic engineering designs, managing drawings and models in 2D and 3D CAD environments, and applying your expertise in construction, production, and/or product design. Your focus will be on optimizing the factory layout to enhance efficiency, productivity, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback from stakeholders, making necessary adjustments to optimize the factory layout design.
  • Conduct site visits and gather relevant data to inform the layout design, taking into account site constraints, regulations, and safety considerations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, and production experts, to gather requirements and incorporate their input into the design process.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in factory layout design, incorporating relevant knowledge into the project.
  • Apply your solid experience in construction design, production design, and/or product design to develop innovative solutions and address complex design challenges.
  • Optimize the factory layout to maximize operational efficiency, minimize production bottlenecks, and improve overall workflow and productivity.
  • Collaborate closely with construction teams to ensure the feasibility and practicality of the factory layout design, considering construction methods and sequencing.
  • Utilize 2D and 3D CAD software to generate and manage drawings, models, and metadata, ensuring accurate representation of the factory layout.
  • Develop factory layout designs during the concept and basic engineering phases, considering factors such as workflow, equipment placement, material flow, and ergonomics.
  • Maintain documentation and version control of drawings, models, and design changes, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.

Requirements

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accurate representation of the factory layout in drawings and models.
  • Strong proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar applications.
  • Proven experience in factory layout design and optimization, with a focus on concept and basic engineering phases.
  • Ability to analyze data, interpret requirements, and translate them into practical and efficient factory layout designs.
  • Familiarity with workflow analysis, material flow optimization, and ergonomic design principles.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop creative solutions to complex design challenges.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • Solid experience in either construction design, production design, and/or product design, demonstrating a deep understanding of design principles and considerations.
