Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent the role will be responsible for data management for the Project monitoring programs and work closely with the Environmental Regulatory Specialist and Environmental Coordinator. The Environmental Data Management Specialist will provide expertise and support to Operations by leading the management of environmental data functions.


  • Tracking and reporting on the status of incident investigations, corrective and preventative actions
  • Establish, support and maintain the database to meet best practices and regulatory standards
  • Ensure data is available in user-friendly reports and visuals for departmental and operational use
  • Review Chain of Custody (COC) and Sample Receipt Confirmations (SRCs) documents, analytical data reports and communicate with external consultants, analytical labs and site staff with any revisions that are required to the relevant party
  • Strong analytical, problem – solving and decision making abilities, excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Periodic site visits to the Mary River Project to provide training and guidance to all users of the EQuIS database
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining EQuIS data management software, including coordination with EarthSoft and support consultant(s) to configure and maintain the various EQuIS Modules (Collect, SPM, Professional, Enterprise)
  • Create and produce maps, graphs and tables in accordance with company and project-specific guidelines for technical reports and presentations using technologies such as EQuIS and Excel
  • Monitor lab data completeness reports in the database to verify analyses are conducted as requested, within appropriate hold times and turn around times
  • Background in developing, monitoring and auditing environmental data management systems
  • Compiling and statistically analyzing environmental data for presentation in internal and external reports and trend analysis
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental science, engineering and/or a related program
  • Supports administrative duties of Environmental staff, including shipment and order tracking and completion of purchase requisitions
  • Control the database’s change management procedures as the single point of accountability for required changes and improvements in EQuIS modules
  • Ensure water quantity or quality non-compliances are flagged and investigation actioned
  • Experience with EQuIS environmental data management system
  • Support environmental monitoring program implementation through creation of required fields in the database (i.e. reference values, locations, reports, field data templates and planning module tasks)
  • Responsible for the incident management database for environmental scope
  • From 3-5 years' mine site experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and SAP
  • Providing daily monitoring of field data and lab data submittals to verify acceptance in the database, and resolve rejections as required
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and reporting practices
  • Must possess effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to lead and to coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives.
  • Responsible for data management for the Project’s environmental monitoring programs and baseline data
  • Single point of contact for the BlueBox Document Control System (DCS) on behalf of the Environment department.
  • Coordinate with all staff to support project needs, such as providing custom queries and database outputs to support statistical and spatial analyses
