Generate Upcycle is looking for a Regional Compliance Coordinator to join our growing team!
The Environmental Compliance Coordinator ensures our business adheres to environmental protection regulations and performs necessary reporting related to the permits/ECA’s and requirements in Canada and the USA. Operations include but are not limited to anaerobic digestion, wastewater treatment and composting. This position ensures the company is compliant and works closely with the Operations and Development teams and will assist in preparing us to meet future compliance needs as we grow.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Improve/develop procedures that support compliance at each site.
- Assist with obtaining new permits and review permits for new sites and acquisitions.
- Track progress and corrective actions with each site.
- Managing environmental permits and reporting for all assigned sites.
- Work with sites and EHS team and perform other duties and functions as assigned.
- Prepare annual, quarterly, and monthly report as required internally and for submission to government entities.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Research and understand state/provincial, federal, and local rules related to operations.
- Initiate and perform inspections at all sites including records and site conditions and prepare reports on each.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years environmental permitting and/or compliance experience required
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements
- Experience with USA and Canadian Regulations preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental or similar field required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and follow up skills.
- Strong process-improvement, organization, and project management skills
- Excellent computer skills, proficiency in Office Suite (primarily MS Outlook, Excel and Word)
- Excellent data management skills
- Creative problem-solver and troubleshooter
- Independent thinker, ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements:
- Must walk on uneven terrains on high and low temperatures days.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Work Environment
- Positions functions in several different environments which includes a professional office and field environment.
- Travel required, 50-75%
