Job Description

Coltene SciCan is a market leader in the manufacture and distribution of dental and medical equipment. Coltene's manufactured sterilization and disinfection equipment is sold in over 80 countries, worldwide. Coltene-SciCan is located in Toronto near the intersection of Highways 401 and 404 (Don Mills and York Mills). It is accessible by public transportation.


We currently have an opening for a Engineering Test Specialist to join our team.


Job Summary:

The Engineering Test Specialist is responsible for testing engineering samples, software, electronics, prototype and production machines in support of medical device design and development

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

· Process Engineering Test Requests.

· Calibrate and Operate data acquisition and control test fixtures.

· Setup and Test components, assemblies and entire units according to test protocols.

· Measure protein residue using spectrometer.

· Perform software, hardware, and system validation tests for medical devices.

· Document test results in test reports and logs.

· Learn new skills related to product verification, validation, quality and reliability.

· Design and implement Test Automation (Python, Arduino, Labview).

· Study and follow all test protocols, Quality system manuals, specifications and SOP’s.

· Participate in organization and maintenance of the test lab.

· Comply with SciCan’s safety policies and quality system.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  1. Graduate of an Applied Science/Engineering Technology program.
  2. Two years Experience with
  • Engineering Verification and Validation activities
  • Technical drawings, specifications and schematics
  • Use of test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, computers, controllers, Dataloggers)
  • Programming and use of Instrumentation and mechatronics

3.Software development skills (python, Arduino, Labview, C or equivalent)

4,Software test tools (HELIX, JIRA or equivalent)

5,PCB Soldering skills

6.Strong oral and written communication skills

7.Strong knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office

8.Ability to perform physical work/lifting.
