Job Description
Photon Control Inc. is part of the MKS Instruments Photonics Solutions Division, providing a wide range of highly specialized opto-mechanical solutions to enhance our customer’s capabilities and productivity in the semiconductor, advanced electronics and specialty industrial markets. At Photon Control we design and manufacture high performance optical sensors and systems to measure temperature and position. These products improve performance and enable innovation for our customers and are used in the semiconductor and other high technology industries. Our clients provide solutions to some of the biggest semiconductor manufacturers whose products can be found in everyday electronic devices, cellphones, smart watches, TVs, and computers.


We are looking for an exceptional Co-op Student who can play a key role in supporting the development of new technologies and products by executing day-to-day lab work. The co-op will report to a supervisor within the Engineering group and will complete tasks as outlined below during their tenue. The placement will be for an initial 4 months with the option to extend to 8 months depending on performance and business need.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Conducting design of experiments for materials and system characterization.
  • Conduct literature reviews.
  • Summarizing findings, writing reports, and presenting technical data to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Generating engineering documents such as process development reports, SOPs, test procedure, assembly instruction, etc.
  • Executing experiments to develop or scale-up manufacturing processes.
  • Follow and implement general lab safety practices.
  • Performing routine measurements, data analysis, and interpretation of results.
  • Building and testing prototypes


Qualifications and Skills Required:


  • Proficient or good understanding of data analysis and statistics with good problem-solving skills with systematic analytical interpretation of data
  • Undertaking a degree in in applied sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Materials), Mechatronics or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • You must be enrolled as a full-time student preceding the co-op assignment
  • Excellent technical, analytical and hands-on skills and strong attention to details
